Whether you are another creative or you work a desk job, feeling uninspired just happens sometimes in everyday life which makes it a little hard to get the job done! Especially during this crazy time in the world, we ALL have a little more time to think & feel a little less uninspired than usual.
When I first started my blog I was on instagram as @fit_on_the_farm. Instagram wasn’t new but sharing your life on a public profile was still new-ish. I only started a blog website because people just genuinely seemed to be interested in my life & any time they would request a blog or more photos of a specific topic, I would just do it! My site was very basic but it was ‘working’ for what I needed at the time, to just write a blog & email my subscribers to let them know it was live.
After about two years, I became very uninspired mostly because I hated my website & honestly was embarrassed by it. I really didn’t want to login in & even look at it. I also knew I didn’t have the time to sit down & write so I basically pretended like it wasn’t there. But I would still get email subscribers & new brands reaching out for a blog post (not just ig) which made CRINGE & feel even more embarrassed because everything was so outdated! I didn’t want to turn down some of these brands & disappoint anyone who was taking time out of their day to subscribe to my page. Do you see where I am going with this…
Fast forward to 4 years later, Rustic Rose Co stepped in to save the day. Literally! During the past year I have tried to create my own or look for another company who could do this for me, but I didn’t have any luck. I explained to part of the Rustic Rose Co Team, Dawn & Shana, that I was feeling very uninspired & knew I needed a new site ASAP if I was going to ever feel inspired again. With so many new business ventures coming up this year (cookbook, online shop & more), I had to kick it in gear & let my site match all those new ventures! They already had a vision & knew exactly what I needed & lacked just by looking at my old site. Even though I let them know that I was aware the old site was rough, they never made me feel bad about it. Even though it was BAD. They truly just wanted to make the site better so that it would work where I am at in the blogging journey now.
I thought I had nothing to lose asking for help with my site because if brands were still wanting to collaborate or people were still wanting to follow along in my life…how much more could I offer with a fully functional, working site?! Would I be more inspired to look at my site or share more of the BTS of my life?
The process was fairly effortless on my part (I know for them they were all working around the clock to get it done)! I had my first phone call with Dawn & Shana the end of February & a week later I had a blog proof. We went through this on a conference call to make sure we were all on the same page. I let them know I really didn’t feel inspired to write my ‘about me’ section & then they sent off my info to their copywriter, Sally! Could that be any easier?!
Two weeks later, I had a fully working blog site to proof & make final adjustments too. They even explained to me how to use my new site so that I am not relying on calling a webmaster every time I want to change or update something! I live very remote, so me getting on the phone to call the support number on the website just isn’t going to work! Since the new site is so user friendly, I can now swap out things on my own with as little effort as a drag & drop feature.
I needed more than just a blog site, I needed my business branding to also fit my personal style. Sally went through my notes/old blog, Dawn took inspiration from my instagram + animals, then I scheduled some more content shoots with Shana & she created amazing letterpress cards & envelopes for my brand that I didn’t even know I needed until I saw them!
So what I am saying is, if you are feeling uninspired or have been putting off starting your own website, updating your website, starting a blog or whatever it is, ask for help! NOW is the time to really take advantage of this down time we are all experiencing!
